  1. D)ownload: The "D" command is used to transfer data from RBBS-PC to your 
  2. computer.  
  3.  
  4. The basic steps in downloading are
  5.  
  6.    (1) tell RBBS you want to download.
  7.            (enter "D" at the command prompt)
  8.    (2) tell RBBS exactly what file you want to download.
  9.            (to the prompt "file(s) to download" enter the file
  10.             name.  No drive letter, no path, no wildcards, just
  11.             the file name with any extension)
  12.    (3) tell RBBS what protocol you want to use.
  13.            (RBBS will give you a list of options.  Selecting
  14.             none cancels the download)
  15.    (4) after RBBS says it is ready, tell your communications 
  16.        package to save the incoming file USING THE SAME
  17.        PROTOCOL
  18.            (in QMODEM and PC-TALK the command is invoked
  19.             by pressing the "PgDn" key or alt-R.  RBBS sits waiting
  20.             while you talk to your communications package)

  22. Tips: 
  23. 1. You should use the L)ist, N)ew, and S)earch commands to identify 
  24. files that you would like to download.  
  25.  
  26. 2. You can stack the "D" command with the file name. That is, you can 
  27. enter "D;<filename> directly from the Files Menu. For example, you could 
  28. type "d;keydo.exe" to start downloading the "keydo.exe" file.  The 
  29. protocol you would like to use can also be stacked after the file name 
  30. such as "d;keydo.exe;x".

  32. 3. You can stack multiple file names.  E.g. "D;SD.COM;FDATE.ARC;X"
  33. downloads files SD.COM and FDATE.ARC, each using Xmodem.
  34.  
  35. 4. AUTODOWNLOAD can save you the trouble of having the tell your
  36. communications package to receive and what file name to use.  PIBTERM
  37. 3.25 up and EXEC PC-TALK 2.1 up support autodownloading.

  42. that you pressed the return key.  This uses PC-TALK.
